General Orlando M. Poe Camp Flag Adoption
The General Orlando M. Poe Camp No. 444 of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War adopted a flag of the First Michigan Engineers and Mechanics Regiment (SC-106-90) on May 16, 2026.
The camp is named after General Orlando M. Poe, Colonel of the Second Michigan Infantry Regiment. Poe went on to great service in the Union Army, and post-war designed Great Lakes lighthouses and the Poe Locks at Sault Sainte Marie which opened in 1896.
Our sincere thanks to the members for their great support in recognition of the accomplishments of the First Michigan Engineers and General Poe.
