On Flag Day, June 14, 2026 Fellowship Lodge #236 Free and Accepted Masons of Swartz Creek, MI adopted a flag carried by the Fourth Michigan Volunteer Cavalry Regiment during the Civil War.

The General Orlando M. Poe Camp, 444 of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War adopted a flag of the First Michigan Engineers and Mechanics Regiment (SC-106-90) on May 16, 2026.

The flag of the First Michigan Infantry Regiment (Three Months) is back home after a year of conservation treatment at Textile Preservation Associates in West Virginia.

Save the Flags was honored to host MIARNG Command Historian Adam Betz and Dr. Chris Petras on May 7^th, 2026. Dr. Petras has been tirelessly researching Michigan soldiers, predominantly from Grand Haven, MI who never received medals earned during World War I, including 20 who earned the Purple Heart but never received the well-deserved recognition.
