Remembering John & Alfred Ryder
Kathy and Mark Jennings were the guests of Save the Flags on September 2, 2026. Mark is currently working on a manuscript for a book on two brothers from Livonia, Michigan who were killed and mortally wounded at Gettysburg fighting with different Michigan regiments.
Alfred Ryder was wounded in the East Cavalry Field while fighting with the First Michigan Cavalry and succumbed to his wounds on July 24, 1863. His brother John Ryder fought with the 24th Michigan at the Herbst-Reynolds Woods/McPherson Ridge on July 1, 1863 where he was killed in action.
