In Honor of Staff Sergeant Earl Robert Christenson
Save the Flags would like to thank Karla Christenson for her donation in honor of the Michigan Veterans of World War II. While the state collection does not at this time include battle flags of World War II, the flags are nonetheless a reminder of the service and sacrifice of all Michigan soldiers in every war.
This donation specifically remembers Karla’s uncle—Staff Sergeant Earl Robert Christenson—who was killed in action in France on November 28, 1944, at the age of 19.
Sergeant Christenson was from East Detroit; his father was the principal of East Detroit High School. Earl was buried on the field, and his body lies in Plot C, Row 19 Grave 105 in the Lorraine American Cemetery and Memorial, Saint-Avold, D’epartment de la Moselle, Lorraine, France.
