Task Force 46 of the Military Police Command

It was our great pleasure to host Task Force 46 of the Military Police Command of the Michigan Army National Guard on Thursday, October 30, 2025. Our thanks to the members of the 46th for their service, and to Major Mike May and Command Historian Adam Betz for arranging the visit. Our time was spent viewing some of the flags carried by ancestral units of the Michigan National Guard, including flags of the Third Michigan Infantry, the 507th Engineers, the Second Michigan Infantry and some of the battery flags carried in World War I by the 119th Field Artillery.

The 119th, known as “Lansing’s Own” because of the large number of men from Lansing who were originally in the regiment, trained for several months in the United States before being sent to France in February of 1918. During the war, they were attached to six divisions: the 26th, the 28th, the 32nd (Red Arrow), the 77th, the 79th, and the 1st Moroccan Infantry Division.  They participated in the Second Battle of the Marne, the Oise-Aisne Offensive, and the Meuse-Argonne Offensive.  During the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, the 119th experienced five months of continuous fighting and reclaimed over 40 miles of French territory.
